Certifiers and the Farm
Management System:
Organic Ecology is working with several leading certifiers world wide to integrate the certification process into the Farm Management System to improve connectivity and efficiency in the certification process. Read what these certifiers have to say about Organic Ecology: there are links to the websites alongside each message.
We have written a confidential presentation on how Certifiers can use the Farm Management System to support their existing regulatory process and systems. To request a copy of this, please e-mail us at info@organicecology.com
Soil
Association - UK
 |
|
"The
Soil Association has been actively involved in the development and promotion
of the Organic Ecology Farm Management System from early on in the project.
Soil Association-certified users of the System have electronic versions
of their inspection certificates attached to their Farm data and maintained
by the Soil Association.
Requests for changes in Plot information are also sent for approval to the
Soil Association; in future, this functionality will probably be extended
to cover restricted practices and derogations.
"Traceability is an issue in the industry," says Philip Prideaux, Technical
Operations Director, SA Cert. "With the launch of this System, technology
now enables visible transparency in the supply chain, enabling the farmer,
processor and consumer to see the provenance of the produce they are buying."
"We are promoting this System as an industry standard, because it can
support all relevant parties - farmers, certifiers, processors, retailers
and even consumers - across all major international languages. Once the
system is fully operational and has incorporated livestock record keeping
and traceability, we will be able to assess any efficiencies it brings to
the administration of our certification systems, passing on any cost savings
to licencees using the system".

Organic
Farmers & Growers - UK

"OF&G
are backing a unique farm record keeping and traceability system that is
now available to organic farmers following successful Europe-wide trials.
The Internet-based system, built by Organic Ecology - a division of New
Information Paradigms - saves record-keeping and management time, and ensures
consistency and compliance with organic standards.
It also provides farmers with the ability to grant full web-based traceability
to processing and retail customers - as well as consumers - at both the
farm and crop level." |

Skal
- The Netherlands
 |
|
"The [Organic
Ecology] project is in the interest of different players involved in organic
production, like farmers, processors, traders, supermarkets, certifiers
like Skal and last, but not least, consumers of organic products. Skal
is taking part in the project by giving comments on the software's development.
Skal expects that the software:
- will support
the administration process of Skal and our licencees
- provides Skal
information for enquiries on a specific topic: "who are the farmers
with apples in conversion?" for example
- will improve traceability
between Skal licencees and different countries
- enables us in
a simple way to do cross-control with other inspection bodies: also,
our licencees can verify easily if a supplier is inspected by an inspection
body."
