Benefits of the Farm Management System:
Whilst the core of the System
is, at present, Farm record keeping, it already provides great benefits to many
sectors of the Organic supply chain.
Organic Ecology's Systems will continue to grow in scope and functionality, and
the specific direction of this growth will depend mostly on where the market wants
to take us. Therefore, early, thoughtful, involvement with us will give you a
chance to contribute to an exciting initiative with mutual benefit.
To see details of the System's benefits for each market sector click on the links
in the list below.
If you wish to speak to us about
how these benefits will be delivered, please contact us on info@organicecology.com.
Farmers can:
- keep an electronic version of their
certificate online, to which quick and easy access can be granted to anyone
they choose.
- have their certificate details updated
electronically by their certifier, so that the online certificate matches
any changes in certified status.
- gain easy access to information for
derogations.
- control access to their data by:
- granting access to general information
about the farm (FARM TRACE) to specifically invited parties, or to consumers.
- granting more detailed access to information
about specific crops and harvests (HARVEST TRACE), both within the industry
and beyond.
- granting retailers direct trace access
to the farm, or allowing their packer to pass on their access to retailers
where appropriate.
- generate reports for farm management
and inspections.
- be sure that treatments they
use are approved by relevant standards.
Certifiers can:
- keep up to date versions of all
farm certificates online, regardless of whether that farm is using the
System for record-keeping.
- access data relevant for derogation
procedures on all certified farms.
- closely monitor changes in farm status.
- communicate practice-related information
to licencees within farms' record keeping forms.
- present themselves directly to consumers
via the trace reports for their certified farms using the System.
Consumers can:
- see relevant and thorough information
about the Organic produce that they buy by tracing
them on this site.
- view supporting information explaining
and expanding upon trace information.
- contact the farm or co-op that produced
the produce that they have traced, if the farm or co-op in question has revealed their contact details.
Packers/Processors
can:
- see detailed information
about each harvest instantly, which they can pass on to their customers,
so providing information
about their suppliers in a demonstrably authenticated way.
- see the name, certifier,
and certificate status of all their suppliers.
Co-operatives can:
- have an up to date, central
record keeping application across the entire group of farms.
- promote the specific organic
integrity of the Co-op brand.
- enter and maintain details
on behalf of those farms with no internet capability.
- access, and incorporate
into reports, data from the entire group; including that entered by farmers
using the System on their own farm.
Retailers can:
- access information about their primary suppliers.
- trace harvests for quality control
purposes.
- be notified of changes to the certification
status of relevant organisations (farms, co-ops, etc.).
- see a list of all suppliers with their
certificate licences and organic status.
- provide customers access to consumer
trace functionality from within the multiple's own web site.
